Peer Recovery Services
Empower Treatment deeply values the real-world recovery experiences of individuals. They should not only have a seat at the table, but their lived experience should always be guiding our efforts. Every day, Peer Recovery Supporters across the country are leading the recovery field in a braver, less stigmatized, and more compassionate direction.
Our Peer Recovery Supporters are people who have successfully worked through their own recovery and now help others who are going through similar challenges. They use their own experiences to offer understanding, respect, and encouragement. They are here to help you stay focused on your personal recovery journey and reduce potential harms. Peer Recovery Support brings the benefits of formal treatment into everyday life, making recovery more achievable and lasting. Here's what our Peer Recovery Supporters do:
- Support and Stand Up for You: Our Peer Recovery Supporters advocate for you while you work on your recovery.
- Share Knowledge and Skills: Our Peer Recovery Supporters offer resources and help you learn new skills.
- Create Community: Our Peer Recovery Supporters help you build networks of support and friendship.
- Lead Groups: Our Peer Recovery Supporters organize and lead group meetings focused on education, volunteer service opportunities in your community, and getting life-saving harm reduction tools like naloxone and test strips into as many local hands as possible.
- Guide and Encourage: Our Peer Recovery Supporters offer mentorship and help you set and achieve your goals.
- Educate: Our Peer Recovery Supporters give you opportunities to help our organization teach the public and local decision-makers about recovery, harm reduction, and mutual aid.
- Adventure Together: Our Peer Recovery Supporters join you for outings in the community and connecting with nature- exercising at local gyms, volunteering locally, and enjoying green space through activities like hiking and forest bathing.
Our Peer Recovery Supporters leverage their own personal experience with mental health or addiction to empower your personal recovery path. This shared experience is what makes the peer support relationship so powerful in the behavioral health field. Our Peer Recovery Supporters meet you where you are at, free from judgment and stigma. As ALL recovery services should be.
